Cookies & Canvas Was Sweet

The children’s Cookies & Canvas event hosted by Spark and Y-Gradale was a huge success. Taught by Eric Salyers and assisted by various Spark members and Y-Gradale moms the room beamed from smiles of budding young creators. Most frequent comment from children and parents was, “When’s the next event?”

To answer the question as simply as possible, “SOON!” Just keep a watch on our Events schedule in the left column of this site and the featured stories at the top of the Home Page.

Cupcakes & Canvas was sweet!

SPARK-logo 200x202Saturday, March 29, 2014 was the premier Cupcakes and Canvas children’s art event for Spark Creative Artspace. Over twenty-five  young children, along with several parents or grandparents, attended the morning event and spent two hours plus individualizing their versions of MONSTERS as art instructor, Jennifer Wenker, led them through the basics of painting with acrylic paints. The cost was $25 per child which included all supplies, protective aprons, instructions, fantastic cupcakes, juices, and a stretched canvas painting they can forever cherish. Jennifer encouraged them to express their individual interpretations and the imaginations went into hyper-drive.

A special thanks to building owner Pat Hays for providing free use of this store front for this Spark “popup” event.

Spark! in the schools

SPARK-logoSPARK! was invited to visit the 40 Greenfield Preschool students of Mrs. Marcia Wagner Starkey to explore open-ended creativity in the classroom. We made CYANOTYPES on our first unofficial day of Spring when the temps hit 70 degrees. SPARK! artist, Jennifer Wenker guided the students through the exploration and creation of “sun prints” following a nature walk. The lesson was a great fit as the children are learning about weather all week and Tuesday’s subject was SUNSHINE!
