As the title says in the Gaelic language, Three Spoons Diner forever. Once again with the support of Doug Gall and his great restaurant staff Spark Creative Artspace enjoyed another fundraising special dinner. For the second year the people of our community came out in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day and to support both Spark and one of the village’s favorite businesses. Spark wants to thank everyone who helped in any way and rest assured the proceeds will be spent wisely on continuing to bring the arts to our area.
The McClain Band Boosters is teaming up with Spark on Sunday afternoon, March 6th for a fundraiser to help earn money for the band’s trip to New York City. Spark’s Cathy Rivas will be the instructor and the event will take place between 2 and 4 pm at 251 Jefferson St. in Greenfield.
Costs will be $35 a person and includes a stretched canvas, all paints and brushes, use of Spark’s equipment, professional assistance and instructions, a good cup of coffee and something to nibble on. Coffee and Canvas is opened to high school students in 9th through 12 grades and all adults. It would be a wonderful mother/daughter event. Size is limited to thirty-five students and everyone will leave the building with their own artistic masterpiece.

A special thank you to Amber Curtis and Kay Harris for their donation of bar stools to Spark Creative Artspace. Also to Joe Chapman and Mid Wisecup for chipping in and helping pay for all the new chairs Spark now has. Spark couldn’t exist without the generosity of people like these.
One thing that’s been holding Spark back with its new location is the lack of furniture, especially seating. Fortunately we were able to purchase in excess of 100 stackable chairs at auction and will now be able to host all sorts of public events.
The down side is having to pay for the chairs. A certain someone has pitched in $100 towards the $550 costs and what we now need is a bunch of someones to donate whatever amount they can afford towards paying off the balance.
Please send your tax-deductible donation to:

Earlier this month Spark Creative Artspace began a community membership drive to help raise needed funds to secure a permanent home. Annual memberships are $10 per person and along with knowing you’re supporting a worthwhile educational resource you’re going to receive an invite to a special “member appreciation” event once we’re in our new location. s

Spark has teamed up with local Mexican restaurant, El Canon to celebrate the Mexican national holiday, Cinco de Mayo (5th of May). It marks the day a smaller Mexican force defeated the French at the Battle of Pueblo. This victory went on to rally the Mexican people in their struggle to cast out the imperialist French.
In America it has become a day to recognize and celebrate the contributions Mexican heritage and culture have added to the ever changing blend that is America.
To make the evening special Spark is working with El Canon to develope a few menu items not usually served while ensuring the regular menu will be available. I’m guessing there will also be a couple of special adult beverages to round out the uniqueness of the evening.
To pay back to the community they serve El Canon will be donating a generous portion of its profits back to help fund the many projects of Spark Creative Artspace. I’m sure Spark will be holding a 50/50 raffle and selling their extremely cook t-shirts.
Mark your calendar and bring the family to El Canon Mexican Restaurant & Cantina on Monday, May 5, 2014 at 1444 Jefferson St., Greenfield, OH. Times are 4-8 p.m.
Thanks to Pepsi Cola and Desha LLC Spark’s Roots in the Field event is now being boldly advertised in the middle of Greenfield. Don’t forget to mark your calendar and tell all your friends. The Friday Night Fish Fry will be from 5 till 7 pm so come take a bag of sandwiches and sides home for supper that evening. From 7 till 10:30 pm Jay Wile’s One Damn Man and The Gypsy Jug Band will be playing roots music inside the VFW Ranch and between bands Willie Cross will be auctioning off a ton of excellent donated gifts to help raise rent money for Spark’s new permanent location. Going to be a great evening so bring your own cooler and join it. Admission to Roots in the Field is $10 at the door.
Take a break from the week’s labors and don’t cook on Friday night, April 25th. Stop by the VFW Ranch on Watt Rd. (behind Eagles) and pick up a sack of delicious freshly fried fish sandwiches and sides for the family. You’ll be giving yourself a break and helping Spark reach its goals.
The fish fry will be in operation from 5-7:00 pm and at 7:30 pm the Roots in the Fieldmusic concert will begin. Come for one, stay for both!
