Due to Spark’s recent Faerie Door workshop there are now several new entrance routes into our fair village for wee folk to come and go. We had a nice turnout and everyone seemed to have had a great time. So nice to see people meet their creative selves.

The March 6th Coffee & Canvas fundraiser for the MHS Band Boosters was a rousing success. Greenfield art teacher and Spark member Cathy Rivas led a full house in the acrylic and canvas painting of a field of wildflowers. The Booster’s proceeds will be used to help pay for the MHS Band’s annual trip to New York City.
On February 20th, 2016 Spark’s Tom Schluep and Molly Jordan held their first American Sign Language class for children. Language plays a major part of a child developing their communication skills and exposure to any language is invaluable.
The kids who attended this class quickly became engrossed in the learning of a new language. They left Spark with armed with something they hadn’t arrived with and most clamored for more.
We’re sure Tom and Molly will be fertilizing the seeds they planted today so stay tuned for news of another such class.
Some time ago Spark decided to hold an Open Studio every other month and to try including a free event for children and their parents. In December it was a well attended Christmas decorations workshop and on February 6th it was a workshop, led by Tom Schluep, on making decorative bowls from recycled newspaper and magazine pages. Someone donated a big tub of Beanie Babies so many of the kids took home a bowl of Beanies. The work tables remained active for the entire three hours and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Also present were Spark members Elaine Williams demonstrating her art of jewelry making while Eric Salyers worked on carving a nice walking stick. Our next Open House will be in early April.
Spark artists Sofia Burgess will present a second in her series of still life Coffee and Canvas events on Sunday, March 13th at Spark Creative Artspace, 251 Jefferson St. in Greenfield. Hours will be from 2:00 pm till 4:00 pm.

Payment may be made at the door using cash or personal check. However, to help Spark know what to expect we’d appreciate your filling out and submitting the following contact form.
